An independent publisher of print and digital magazines on psychology, cinema and culture sells single issues and subscriptions online. User Actually worked as its digital partner, using analytics to steer paid social, e-commerce listings and the design of its website.
What we delivered
Analytics sat at the centre. What the data showed about readers and buyers shaped the ads we ran, the listings we built and the website we designed.
Dashboards and insights behind listing and product decisions.
Facebook and Instagram campaigns, including catalogue ads.
Website banners and new product listings.
A new design for the publisher's website.
01 · E-commerce analytics
We built an e-commerce dashboard in Data Studio (now Looker Studio) bringing together revenue, orders, average order value, conversion, top products, devices and traffic sources.
The insights fed straight into decisions: which issues to promote, how to improve product listing pages, and where to put ad spend.
| Product | Views | Conversion | Orders |
|---|---|---|---|
| Psychology magazine, latest issue | 3,210 | 4.1% | 132 |
| Cinema magazine, annual subscription | 1,880 | 2.7% | 51 |
| Culture special edition | 1,402 | 3.3% | 46 |
03 · Website banners & product listings
We designed website banners for new issues and campaigns, and created new product listings so each issue and subscription had a clear, complete page.
The analytics showed what buyers looked for, which helped shape how listings were written and laid out.
Essays, interviews and reviews on art and culture.
04 · Website UI design
We designed a new user interface for the publisher's website, putting the latest issues, the three subject areas and subscriptions up front.
The layout was built around what the analytics showed readers did most.
